Sneak peek at the upcoming Expo show

Visit us at the Sewing and Quilt Expo at the Expo Center in Fredericksburg on September 29 & 30 and October 1. We’ll be staffing a booth with lots and lots of gorgeous quilts from our members. Here’s a sampling of what you’ll see, from our meeting last week.

Three different versions of the QAL sponsored by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts last fall. Linda’s is dramatically dark with a few bonus blocks, Lori’s is done as a quilt-as-you-go with striking solids, and Caroline’s is by the book on a white background.

From David Owen Hastings’ workshop, “Inspired by Art”

Enjoy these quilts and more from our guild. See you at the Expo!

August Show and Tell

We had three S&Ts at our August meeting, all of them in process.

Linda’s dilemma: A border or no border? And if a border, which fabric to use? Decisions, decisions!
Sea turtle made with the scrappy applique method. Even more impressive when you know that Jan put this all together 24 hours before the meeting!
Since she is still sewing on the facing, Caroline’s piece from the David Owen Hastings workshop looks a little wonky. And some big stitch quilting is still to come!

At the meeting, we also discussed our participation in the Original Sewing and Quilting Expo at the end of September. Be sure to finish up any challenges so we can enter them in our show!

We’ll be staffing our booth as well, so look for updates on how to sign up for a shift (remember, you get free entry to the show on the day you work at the booth!). More details to come.
